K9 Storm Vest Saves Auburn PD K9 "Blitz"!
07/07/2003
"I'm a K9 handler in Auburn, Washington and our 2 patrol dog teams have been wearing the K9 Storm Vests 10 hours a day during their shifts.
Well, on the early morning of 7-7-03, a suspect fled a traffic stop, and I sent my dog, with me running after. As the dog cornered the suspect, he turned and fired at least 7 rounds from a .45 auto at a distance of less than ten feet, but the dog kept fighting.
We would subsequently learn that at least two rounds hit the vest. The dog, Blitz, was not injured and continued the fight, putting the suspect down. The suspect was found to have several firearms on his person, and there's not a doubt in my mind that my dog and his vest saved officers' lives that day."
